Devotionals & Articles - Pastor Klueg
Written by Pastor Richard C. Klueg

If you have any doubt that Christians must be very discerning in their consumption of news media material, check out the video below. Helen Thomas is a highly regarded member of the White House Press Corps.

Mrs. Thomas has issued a sort-of apology for her statements, but the apology does not address the actual content of what she said or retract any of the position she stated. Aside from the unprofessional nature of her comments, my concern for Mrs. Thomas and those who agree with her comes from the words of God to Abraham in Genesis 12:3:

"I will bless those who bless you, and whoever curses you I will curse."

I know that this does not mean that a person must always agree with the nation of Israel politically, but the bitter spirit exposed by her comments betrays, it seems to me, an underlying hostility to God's chosen people, the Jews.

There is an adage in Latin: victoria spoilia...or something like that. To the victor, to spoils (of war).
I recall the battles fought in the 1960s when Israel was a younger nation, established with UN sanction. All the Arab nations seemed to band together to wipe them off the face of the earth. The Israelis beat them back and took over some of their land--that which is now disputed.
A couple generations later, the "Palestinians" want "their" land back. "Their" ancestors lost it for them. Deal with it!

I agree. Apart from any theological considerations regarding the Holy Land, the Israelis gained land in wars which *they did not start*! They were attacked, and fought back and ended up gaining territory.

It's a shame that things like this will go so disregarded. Since there are so many threats from Palestine, the whole world is scared of doing anything that might tip their favor in one direction or another. Israel has been our only real ally (I haven't forgotten Britain, France (haha), and the rest of the 'European Union', which has assisted us with something along the lines of 2,000 soldiers in the Middle East?) and have shown that they has a country can hold up themselves to a standard without greed. Palestine is just expressing their form of sore-loser-imperialism on the smaller nation, and because of religious conflicts, would like to claim that Israel stole the land. Where's the European Theodore Roosevelt when you need him? (Or Ronald Reagan for that matter.)
